Volunteering

Unlike India or Nepal, nobody comes here to do volunteer work. There are not many associations on the field; it is you who will have to find a place where to help. One advantage is that you won’t have to pay to do volunteer work! Profiles: first of all, you should speak good English. Positions that are looked for are of different nature, English teacher, learning how to write, information technology, agriculture, etc. Bring photocopies of your diplomas, or send them as linked files by mail.
| | | Length are changing, but be aware that you will be asked to come for a minimum of 3 months. In all cases I have been told that accommodation was taken care of. Inquire for food and earnings potential that will be comparable to that of a local teacher. |

VOLUNTEER WORK Pakistan Baltistan
AMIN BRAK Public School
Located in Hushe Valley with Masherbrun on the back, it has been built in the new village of Kandé (the old ones being partly destroyed). Population is extremely poor and government helps don’t always get there as they should. In 2006, parents disappointed by the attitude of their government created their own school. It is a primary school, oriented towards English. There are around 50 children.

You might also be paid as the local teacher.
The children are between 5-16 years old.
They are around 20/25 kids per class
They have English school books.
99% educated children in the area
90% English Medium School
They have computer classes, learning the basics: word, excel. | Information technology developer | The person would have to create a website to help promote the village and the region. | | Accountancy/ Economics | As the community is being granted money from outside, they would need someone to help organize and manage it. The person in charge would have to decide which projects to focus on. |
